Medium Screen print ink on paper

Renate Meyer was born in Berlin, Germany in 1930 and came over to England as a refugee from the Nazis with her parents in 1933. When she left school she went to Art School at the Regent Street Polytechnic in London where she met Charles Keeping. They were married in 1952 and had a wonderful and productive life together. When he died in 1988 it was a devastating loss to her so she started to frame and hang some of his illustrations on the walls of their house. They looked so good that she hung more and more and then she started to hang some of her work as well. She filled room after room and it ended up becoming 'The Keeping Gallery'. Images of the gallery can be found at www.thekeepinggallery.co.uk
